Water

Many charities around the world dedicate their resources to finding clean water, and we at Village Reach understand why. In Toch Village the only water available for drinking is bottled water, which as you could guess, causes much waste in the village. Our project dreamer, Vuthy, came up with an idea to purchase equipment that cleans and allows for reusable drinking water. Not only will this provide less waste for the village, but if multiple machines can be purchased, it will provide jobs for high school students wanting to make extra money before potentially going off to study in the city after graduation.

Sports Ministry

There aren’t many things that bring people together like the comradery of sports, and we’ve found out that one of the best ways to build trust with our villages as well as simply have some good fun is through sporting events and tournaments. Events like these help us to earn credibility with the village by giving us a place to share our ideas, plans, and goals while receiving feedback from the community. It also allows people from far and wide to be able to come together to hear a sermon of hope and play or watch a game they love.  For Toch Village, this game is soccer, so we will be hosting a soccer tournament there this year to get to know new friends in the village, share about our old friend Jesus, and discuss plans for making their village better than ever. This is an event everyone in the village looks forward to every single year since our first one back in 2019.

Education

Educational needs look different in every place we visit and for Toch Village, it looks like building renovations, school supplies and equipment, and after-school English programs. Vuthy teaches an after-school English program in a small classroom down the road from his house, and the building could really use a facelift. Not only that but redoing these buildings so that more teachers would be willing to put forth effort in teaching and more parents willing to let their children go to learn would be the ideal situation. English goes an extremely long way with young men and women in Cambodia seeking jobs, and anything to provide a lasting impact such as this, we want to be a part of.
